The First Story-Tellers

We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australia’s first story-tellers.

We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the lands and waters of Australia, pay respects to their Elders, past and present, and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities everywhere.

We offer gratitude for their care for country over more than 60,000 years that allows us to live here today.

Always was, always will be.

Whose country are you on?

Wherever you are in Australia you are on the lands and waters of Australia’s First Peoples. Click here to find out about the people of these lands and the 250+ languages of Aboriginal Australia.

Let the books do the talking

You are ever too young (or too old) to learn about Aboriginal culture. Many parents can feel unsure or uncomfortable talking about it because they never really learned about it themselves. Luckily, there are stacks of great picture books to help you explore together. Click here for suggestions.
